    Not exactaly a genset pblem...
I have a motorcycle trailer I'm going to put sides and a top on and make a teeny tiny travel/bike trailer. it's 6 x 10 feet.
Folding bed, table, chair, porta potty, 10 gal water, storage..... got all the easy stuff figured out.
Except for what I can put on the exterior that's waterproof and cheap.
Ok, a real RV would be way better, but I have this trailer so it'll have to do.

Methinks a small Honda or Yammy gen would do nicely, spare 5 gal gas can.
So I can plug into the gen a fan or two, smallmicrowave, and wire in some led lights. Nothing fancy. that would be 110 volts, except the led's, have to think about those. No fridge, cooler with ice, and warm beer is better than no beer.

Then I started thinking.... If I was at a real campground, what would I need between the 30 amp cable (guessing 15 isn't an option anymore)  and two house batteries to connect everything up and power my trailer?

Maybe go find an rv junkyard and buy a converter or inverter or ?
If I could find a used solar panel...uhoh... I'm getting in way over my head here...
Anyone got any suggestions where I sould start reading... I mean besides "Electricity for Dummies"?

    Thanks,
    Mary.

Don't know where you are but here in Arizona there are places all over that sales old and new pieces. All kinds about half or better!! Do a google or search for rv parts used.

Colaw RV parts and salvage in Carthage,Mo has a lot of parts. The Honda genset have a parallel hook up that allows 2 genset to be hooked together. I am thinking about replacing my Onan with a couple of them. lighter and quieter so may work out well. would only need to run 2 if wanted AC.

I'm in Texas, near Ft Worth..
but what I need to know is where do I find out WHAT parts I need?
I think one gen will do, it's a VERY small trailer.
I can run cables from the gen to plugs inside, no problem.
But what parts do I need to install to run 30 amp power to inside plugs?
And what do I need to hook up a battery to run led lights form the gen or an external power source?
Or is it even worth the effort?
    Thanks
    Mary

Being new, I guess, I don't know how to navagate this forum. But I'll spit it out and see if I get any results.
I have enjoyed rving for a long time.
I have just bought a project camper. It is a 1972 Argosy by Airstream. It has been gutted except for cabinets, stove and refrigerator. I have most of the bad flooring replaced and will finish that today hopefully. The problem I need help with at this stage is; The electric wires have been cut at many light fixture locations and maybe other locations. I hope I can pull enough of the cut wires to splice them. There is no electric disconect/breaker/fuse box. I would like to know what electric box to install. Should I install a converter/inverter? If so, how does it hook up with the 30 amp ecectric box? How does it hook up to the lights etc. Hopefully someone will help me solve my problem.

This is a great forum and I'm sure you'll get some help.  Just be patient.

There is another forum for Airstream products that you might try.  Several
