I'm looking for an old Class C that can sleep some people, and I don't have to worry about getting anything on the carpet. We do three trips a year that are about a week at a time, and several that are 1-2 day trips.

I'm looking for simething under $3000. I've found a few, and honestly other than looking to make sure there are no leaks and everything works, I'm not sure what else to look for.

What are the most expensive things to work on?

What models / brands are the most reliable?

For example, I found a 76 Dodge Class C Monaco Mhome for $2500, 65k miles, and everything seems to work.

How do I find out how much these things can tow? How reliable is a dodge chassis say compared to a winnie?

Gosh, I don't know where to start!

    Hi and Welcome.
You will find that the chassis make is a personal choice and some miss guided folks think that Ford and Chevy make the best class C chassis, But the truth is that Dodge made a very reliable platform to build a class C on. In the 70's 4 out of 5 vans you saw were Dodge so parts are easy to find. We owned a 76 Winnie on a Dodge chassis and we had only minor problems that were easily fixed.

I'm in the same boat, err... RV? as Brian.

I'm also looking for an older Class C motorhome and I want one that is easy enough to get parts for.

I currently work on all of my own vehicles, the majority of which have been diesel - I'd like to find a diesel RV (or would I??? advice please.) did they make anything like this ?

Scotty made a diesel Class C about 20 years ago. Lots of diesel Class A's around. Happy Trails, Penny, TX
